Spare Change for God?
Followers of Jesus follow Jesus. They do what He did. It was Jesus who, even “. . . though He was rich, yet for your sakes He became poor, so that you through His poverty might become rich." - 2 Corinthians 8.9
Followers of Jesus don’t just talk about Jesus, or sing about Jesus, or study about Jesus, they follow Him.
Last Sunday we talked together about following Him in our financial giving. In our study in 1 Corinthians 16.1-4 we saw that each of us are to give regularly, systematically, generously and to figure out how much God wants us to give before we come to church:
"On the first day of every week, each one of you should set aside a sum of money in keeping with his income, saving it up, so that when I come no collections will have to be made." - 1 Corinthians 16.2
In other words, no spare change dug out of the ash tray as you pull in the parking lot. God’s not interested in our left-overs, what we can live without. He wants us followers of His Son to follow Him.
So think, and pray, and talk about following Him this week before you come and worship Him with the Body.
