Rwanda: God's Living Word and Clean Water

Thanks from Rwanda

Thank you for your prayers as Paseo del Rey Church loves on these beautiful and deeply wounded people. I'm here investing in the lives of about 14 Rwandan Pastors and Elders of the Evangelical Free Church of Rwanda (EFCR) over a three year period, using a great curriculum called Pathways. This curriculum was created by our own Evangelical Free Church of America (EFCA) to help equip pastors around the world to study and to preach God's life-giving and powerful word. It's exciting to see these brothers and sisters whom I have fallen in love with growing in their desire and ability, ". . . to present yourself to God as one approved, a worker who does not need to be ashamed and who correctly handles the word of truth." 2 Timothy 2.15.

Clean Water with 20 Liters

I'm also meeting with our friends from 20 Liters, a great Christian ministry working to bring small, effective home water filtration systems into homes through local churches.

Did you know?

  • Dirty water kills more people than all forms of violence including war.
  • Diarrhea kills more young children than AIDS, malaria and measles combined and remains the second leading cause of death among children under five globally.
  • Every 20 seconds, a child dies from a water-related disease.
  • 100,000–120,000 deaths are due to cholera every year.
  • Diarrhea results in one in five child deaths – about 1.5 million each year is due to diarrhea.

We want to "fight dirty" to bring clean water and Living Water to the peoples of Rwanda.

The good folks of Paseo del Rey–individuals, families, youth–will be helping build parts for these home water filters Saturday, November 19 at church. What a great Thanksgiving and Christmas outreach project this will be for the people of Rwanda. Watch for more details!

Thanks for your investment in the lives of people to the ends of the earth!
