Family Worship Moment

It is so good to worship together as a family.  For me as a parent,  I am always looking for ways to sing and worship our awesome God, and make it accessible and understandable for my kids too!  I thought I would put the occasional “Family Worship Moment” on the blog, so that you too may have some ideas on how to lead worship in your family.

How Great is Our God

1. Sing Chris Tomlin’s song “How Great is Our God” together.  You can have someone play an instrument, or play a CD or find it on YouTube or iTunes.  The lyrics are below.

How Great is Our God

The splendor of the King, Clothed in majesty
Let all the earth rejoice, Let all the earth rejoice
He wraps himself in light, And darkness tries to hide
It trembles at His voice, it trembles at His voice
How great is our God, sing with me
How great is our God, and all will see
How great, how great is our God
Age to age He stands, And time is in His hands
Beginning and the end, Beginning and the end
The God head three in one, Father Spirit Son
The Lion and the Lamb, The Lion and the Lamb
Name above all names, worthy of all praise
My heart will sing How great is our God

2. When the song is done, read this scripture together.

Psalm 145:1-7

I will exalt you, my God and King, and praise your name forever and ever.

I will praise you every day; yes, I will praise you forever.

Great is the Lord! He is most worthy of praise! No one can measure his greatness.

Let each generation tell its children of your mighty acts; let them proclaim your power.

I will meditate on your majestic, glorious splendor and your wonderful miracles.

Your awe-inspiring deeds will be on every tongue; I will proclaim your greatness.

7 Everyone will share the story of your wonderful goodness; they will sing with joy about your righteousness

3. After you’ve read these verses - take a few minutes in your family to have everyone share a few things that’s great about God. (there’s a lot – take your time!)  Then pray to God, declaring His greatness.  For example, start your prayers with “God You are great because…”  Close your prayer by giving God a standing ovation!
